Marsha’s tiny journey began with her fascination with THs in general, having watched Tiny House Nation & other tiny living shows for several years. One day, she was invited to an Open House (in near-by Paradise, PA) which ended up being for the Monarch tiny house - which is now here at Tiny Estates (talk about tiny worlds)! While taking the tour, Marsha said, “If I had a place to move it, I would sign up tomorrow.” And when asked where she lived, which happened to be here in Elizabethtown, much to her surprise - they told her about Tiny Estates! Within 2 weeks, Marsha’s house was for sale and a Good Omen for downsizing came when the house & furnishings were sold in good time. Marsha worked with her builder for a custom design, and moved into her lovely tiny home, The Gloribee, here at Tiny Estates in July, 2019.
Marsha is from a little mining town called Central City near Johnstown, PA. She grew up in the country on an acre of land living the country life - which she loved. She then moved while in high school to what was for her a “thriving metropolis” (Cumberland, MD) and she enjoyed that lifestyle too. She has a degree from Penn State in education, although there weren’t teaching jobs available in that era. Marsha married and a bit later on, had twins so became a (more than!) full time Mom. Through the ensuing years, Marsha has worked at an impressive array of jobs including software development & training in the healthcare industry and for a huge law firm. She took her ‘first’ retirement from the law firm but continued to work from home for 4 more years, and then worked several part time gigs (as a ‘picker’ at two local warehouses and as a server at Masonic Village), while getting her real estate license - which she has enjoyed as a 2nd (albeit demanding!) career. Not to sit idle, Marsha also works part time, writing a newsletter & helping with marketing, for a local small business.
For Marsha, her faith and family (including 2 grandchildren) come first! Thru her life and many moves, she realizes she loves change and is a minimalist…so, transitioning to tiny living was a change - but not a difficult one. Favorite things about her house include it being her own design - which has everything she needs to be really comfortable including lots of storage - and her deck, where her sweet dog Lily Bean and she frequently hang out. She also appreciates the many conveniences of tiny living (like limited cleaning)! Here at Tiny Estate, Marsha likes feeling safe (like when she walks Lily at night), and she really enjoys the mix of people & community dynamics.
It’s great to get to know Marsha a bit better! Say “Hi” when you see her on one of her several daily walks around the community…and stay tuned to learn more about her beloved pup Lily Bean in a future Pet Profile.
