Abby and Greg’s tiny living experience began when they were living in Illinois and spending time during the summers with family in this area. They were looking for longer term summer lodging rental options and came across Tiny Estates. So over 3 summers, they stayed in different houses & fell in love w/ the tiny living concept. Upon hearing that Tiny Estates was transitioning to a community of resident owned homes, they started looking at possibilities and bought the Monarch in November 2020. They split their time at this point between a condo in Philly (they also enjoy city living!) and being here at Tiny Estates.
Abby is from York County & Greg from Adams County. Abby studied at Albright College located in Reading. After her undergraduate work, she attended Hershey Medical School and got her MD in pathology. In 1987 they met in York at a friend’s party and married several years later. Abby worked at York Hospital and Greg had a career in business with Hershey Entertainment & Resorts. Having looked for several years at their lifestyle (which was pretty hectic), they felt ready for a change and began preparing. In 2014, they did a total “reset”. Both retired from their jobs, they relocated and began downsizing - which definitely helped them get into the tiny living mindset! Abby was a care-giver for her Mom and Greg, who had always enjoyed teaching, started a 2nd career working in higher ed and teaching full time. Both are now ‘fully retired’ and looking at their next phase, which might involve some volunteering and definitely will involve giving back to their communities.
Living in the Monarch is a delight for them. Abby enjoys all the windows & fresh air flowing through. For Greg, it’s a carefree style of living without a lot of needs. They really enjoy the positive feelings they get whenever they come into Tiny Estates, seeing familiar faces, feeling like they are “home”! They are excited to be on the front end dynamics of building the Community with resident owned houses, and are looking forward to seeing and being part of Tiny Estates growing & flourishing.
And we are so glad they are our neighbors! They’ve already been actively contributing to our Community - Abby is serving on the Community Alliance and they both regularly attend events. Say “Hello” next time you see them…and we look forward to lots more good times together, especially once we can have in person gatherings!
