This past Friday evening, we had a wonderful gathering on the community center porch to celebrate a number of talents which our residents shared with us all, and just to enjoy being together!
Our Presenter for the evening was Ty (Journey tiny house). He is a gifted artist, who started painting as a young person, took several decades off and within the past few years, picked up his brushes once again. He showed us a number of his beautiful paintings, and shared their stories, as well as his unique ‘plein air’ (painting outside) technique. He also showed us several different kinds of easels and described his process with both acrylics and watercolors. It was really fascinating, and the scenes his paintings depict gave us a range of landscapes from the Caribbean to local spots. Ty sold several of his paintings and gift card packets . He also offered, in response to several peoples’ interest, to host a “Sip and Paint” event - hopefully in the neat future! Many thanks to Bonnie for being our event liaison and both Bonnie and Ty for all their hard work making it such a great time.
We also enjoyed a delicious hors d’oeuvres buffet of smoked goodies prepared by Dan (Catbus2). It included smoked wing dip with BBQ sauce & crackers, sausage wraps with bacon & tomato wraps also with bacon. Thanks, Dan - it was all delicious! Bonnie was also our wine server and shared a nice variety of local vintages from near-by Grandview Winery.
