In case you hadn't heard, I have a little "Part 15" radio station on the air here on 89.9 FM. It's very low power and can only be heard on campus and for a short distance off campus in some directions. It's been on for about 6 weeks now, just playing a random mix of music. My plan is to turn it into a community station from which everyone can benefit. It also streams online, but I'm not promoting that link yet until we get some real content and I set up music licensing, because music licensing is expensive and I want to stay in compliance with ASCAP and BMI.
Again, right now it's just an odd mix of some of my favorite music, but I'd like to add a lot more content, do community news, maybe some talk shows, vignettes on various subjects, and have different shows created by people with various musical tastes.
I'm going to be upgrading the transmitter soon to include RDS (the system that makes call letters, song title and artist, etc show up on your radio), and add a little height to the antenna so the signal is better.
If you're interested in this project at all, shoot me an email to kelli at tinyradioproject.com. The website is tinyradioproject.com
