The Community Alliance hosted our first quarterly Town Hall this past weekend and despite the cold, we had a good turnout, and a good time together. Our agenda and additional notes are provided here. As always, if you have any questions, let us know! You can post something here of general interest, or always just talk to us, or private message us (use the top bar 'Members' section to find who you'd like to send the message to).
We started with opening remarks from Abby:
1) introducing our Alliance - Terry, Joseph, Mandy (and Megan and Abby D who were not able to be with us)
2) giving some general community updates
Then Betsy, who is serving as the liaison between Abby and the Alliance, led the discussion:
1. Where we have been and what we have done to date
a) transitioned to a community of resident owned houses over the past year b) began targeted community building efforts 3 months ago
(1) introduced new opportunities for communications & participation
(2) formed the Community Alliance to work with the Admin & residents
(3) started regularly scheduled calendar of community events & activities
2. Current and upcoming projects & expansion a) Alliance activities (bi-monthly meetings): assisting Admin; connecting with residents;
b) initiating & helping coordinate projects: Landscape Masterplan, site survey
c) keeping residents informed: expansion updates d) expanding resident services: vendor recommendations; sharing resources & interests - tiny house & tiny living information, hobbies, access to local & regional points of interest & events
~ Highlights: Alliance subcommittee reports
Community Rules & Regulations - this group will be helping with a review and update of the rules and regulations
Resident Opportunity - if you'd like to serve on this committee, led Mandy know
Contingency & Emergencies - this group is helping create resources to better serve us in case of emergencies or other contingency situations
Resident Opportunity - we are creating a voluntary phone list for those who would like a phone call in case of emergency (local or in the community); if you'd like to be on that list, let us know by talking to Terry or Joseph, or private messaging Betsy with your phone number
4. Q&A - quite a few good ideas and suggestions were made during this time, and we discussed them...and let everyone know that:
If you have an idea for a project, either for your own house/site, or for the community, we are asking that you submit a proposal with the details so we can process it in a timely way and get approval for it before you get started. A sample form is attached, and these will be available from Alliance members and also in the Community Center (on the desk by the computer).
If you'd like to start an activity, please feel free to post it in the Events and Activities section here, or talk to an Alliance member who will help you get started.
Overall, we hope this Town Hall, and all we are posting in the Forum and doing around the community, lets everyone know that we want to hear from you all and we'd love for you to join us in whatever ways you want to. We are excited for all the potential we have to be growing together as a community!
