Community Alliance Introduction (Abby)
1. we want to build and sustain resident sense of “ownership” = ‘our’ community
2. we are seeking ideas, suggestions, activities, community friendly behaviors
3. we always have to balance township regs vs resident input...everything has to be in
compliance w/ township
4. current status of community sites - they are all spoken for
Meeting Goals (Betsy): Discuss the following
~ Alliance Profile: members, member roles, meetings
~ Process for resident input to Alliance & for Alliance input to Admin
~ Standardizing Community ‘rules & ‘guidelines’
~ Discuss additional items raised
Notes (Betsy):
1. Alliance Profile: members
a) discussed additional Alliance members to fully represent the community demographics
b) decided to add 2 more
c) added another possibility (part time resident owners; rep that neighborhood)
Follow-up: Abby approached them - Betsy will get them signed up!
2. Alliance Profile: member roles
a) to be a sounding board: residents & owners can contact Alliance members with input,
questions, etc to bring to the Alliance and when needed, to Admin
b) to be informed on basics of what is & what is not ‘allowed’ already (by Admin and/or
township)
c) to consider and vote on recommendations to give to Abby for:
- community projects
- individual resident owner projects
- help set & enforce standard specifications for sites & public spaces
Follow-up: (for nxt mtg & then again in several months) request Abby give us an orientation to
some of the basic regulations/ordinances
3. Alliance Profile: meetings
a) discussed timing: monthly; and we’ll have one extra in October
b) discussed if they should be open to residents? always, occasionally...transparency
yes, decided on posting meeting minutes & having a quarterly Town Hall
Follow-up:
a) Betsy will post dates on the Community Events calendar -
Fridays at 4: 9/24; 10/15 & 29; 11/19 + Town Hall
b) Betsy will post reminder before each meeting for residents to get their input in
4. Process: resident input to Alliance - discussed & began to draft:
a) receiving direct input, or suggestion box, or input given to Abby
b) note it
c) give initial feedback & state process
d) bring it up, for next Alliance meeting agenda
e) keep resident informed of progress/ decisions
Follow-up: Betsy will draft an Input Form to keep track of all this; these will be available
printed out in Community Center, and posted on the Forum
5. Process: Alliance input to Admin - discussed & began to draft this
a) submit items to Betsy for her weekly meetings w/ Abby
b) Betsy will keep Alliance informed of progress/decisions
6. Process: Standardizing Community ‘rules’ & ‘guidelines’ - discussed
Follow-up:
a) (nxt mtg) can Abby give us an orientation to: what she has approved & why, what is a
no-go; some of the basic regulations/ordinances - maybe after a few months based on the
input/questions we get
b) begin to collect things to be considered & draft document
~ Additional items discussed
1. Finances - do community projects have a budget; if so, people could submit a Project Plan and
Abby could price it out
Follow-up: ask Abby how she wants to handle this
2. Geese issues - residents are looking for options to remove Angel-wing geese from property;
Follow-up: they’ll bring suggestions to Abby
3. Resident Sites: many resident questions are being raised about use of resident sites for
example: landscaping, storage sheds/containers, trailers parked on site, skirting, ‘garages’
Follow-up: hopefully these will be addressed as we set standards
